Medovik honey cake: flavour, layers and how to choose your size

Our Medovik has five soft honey sponge layers with cream. We explain its flavour, standard dimensions and the difference between ordering a whole cake in Leeds and sending packaged honey-cake slices across the UK mainland.

Jump to section

Medovik is a honey layer cake with cream between the layers. Our Medovik uses five light honey sponge layers. The honey gives a recognisable flavour, while the filling makes each slice soft and creamy.

It is a good option if you enjoy honey and want a layered dessert for a birthday, family meal or gift. Sweetness is personal, so describe the flavours you like when asking us for a recommendation; a cake described as balanced is still a sweet dessert.

What makes Medovik different from sponge cake?

The filling runs through several thin layers instead of sitting between two or three thick sponge sections. That means you get cake and cream together in each bite. Our classic finish uses crumbs, while bespoke designs can change the outside without changing the flavour you have chosen.

For a different texture, Napoleon uses puff pastry and diplomat cream. Kyiv cake uses cashew meringue and richer creams. Our Ukrainian cake comparison puts the three styles side by side.

Choose a size using portions and the final design

The standard rectangular Medovik is approximately 14 by 21 cm and weighs around 0.8 kg. Custom sizes and designs are available, including round celebration designs. Do not assume that the rectangular dimensions describe every version.

The current product offers serving bands, including 4-8 and 12-20 people, with larger orders available. Tell us whether you need generous dessert slices or smaller portions after other food. For worked examples, use our cake size and portions guide.

Whole cake or postal slices?

The similarly named one-slice Honey Cake by Post and two-slice Cake by post are separate products. Check their contents before ordering. Their descriptions specify honey sponge with butter and condensed-milk cream; use the exact product's ingredients and storage instructions.

Check ingredients before choosing a gift

The Medovik and postal honey-cake products list wheat, eggs and milk. Our kitchen handles other allergens, so these ingredient lists are not cross-contact guarantees. If the recipient has an allergy, contact us using the allergen guidance before buying a surprise.

For a whole cake, send the date, number of servings and postcode through custom cake enquiries. For a parcel, the complete postal guide explains preparation, dispatch and arrival planning.

Choose the format that suits the journey

If the parcel has to go across the UK mainland, start with the cakes by post range for standard-design honey cake, honey cake slices, or caramel biscuits vacuum-packed for post. If the order depends on height, chilled fillings, or a detailed design brief, browse the custom cakes range for the celebration options that are better suited to local delivery, collection, or UK delivery by agreement.
