To choose a cake size, tell us how many people will eat it and whether you want dessert portions or smaller slices alongside other food. A serving range describes different ways of cutting the cake. It does not promise that its largest number will provide generous dessert portions for everyone.
Compare the current serving options
These are the serving bands listed for selected cakes in our catalogue. The options refer to the individual product and design; they are not a universal chart for every cake with the same diameter. Check the product page and confirm the final size when ordering.
| Cake | Serving bands | What to discuss with us |
|---|---|---|
| Medovik honey cake | 4–8, 12–20, 20+ | Standard rectangular cake or a custom size and design |
| Napoleon | 4–8, 12–20 | Pastry layers, intended portion size and finish |
| Kyiv cake | 4–8, 8–12, 12–20, 20+ | Meringue cake size and decoration |
| Chocolate Delicia | 4–8, 8–12, 12–20, 20+ | Sponge layers, height and custom design |
See Medovik, Napoleon, Kyiv cake and Chocolate Delicia for their current options. Not every flavour offers every band.
What the standard dimensions tell you
The standard rectangular Medovik is approximately 14 × 21 cm and around 0.8 kg. The standard rectangular Napoleon is approximately 11 × 18 cm and around 1–1.1 kg. Different fillings and layers mean that a smaller footprint can still weigh more. Weight and width are useful details, but neither replaces a serving plan.
For an illustration, divide a 14 × 21 cm rectangle into two rows and four columns. That gives eight pieces with a footprint of about 7 × 5.25 cm each. Dividing the same rectangle into two rows and two columns gives four much larger pieces. The cake has not changed; the portion has. Confirm the dimensions of your actual order before using this cutting plan, particularly for a custom cake.
Three examples to help you order
- Eight people having cake with tea: tell us whether you want eight modest slices or larger portions. Do not choose solely because “8” appears in a serving range.
- Twelve people having cake as their only dessert: ask for 12 dessert portions. If you choose Medovik, discuss the listed 12–20 option and how it will be cut; there is no listed 8–12 band for this cake.
- Twenty people at a buffet: explain that there are other desserts and say whether you want cake for everyone. If you also want leftovers, add those portions to the brief.
Share the cutting plan with the person serving
Agree the intended number of slices before the first cut. For a rectangular cake, marking the rows and columns lightly can help keep the portions even. Follow the supplied instructions for removing decorations and supports before serving.
For a wedding or venue celebration, ask who will cut the cake and pass on the agreed portion count. Our wedding flavour guide can help narrow the flavour choice before you send the guest count and design through our custom cake form.
