Which cakes travel well by post? Comparing slices, cards and biscuits

A good postal choice depends on the product, decoration and packaging. We compare honey-cake slices, cake cards and caramel biscuits, and explain when a celebration cake needs a different delivery arrangement.

The best bake to send by post is one sold and packed for that journey. Size matters, but so do the filling, decoration and protection around it. We use specific postal products rather than treating every celebration design as suitable for a parcel service.

Our cakes-by-post collection shows the products available to send. Here is how to compare the formats before deciding.

The one-slice honey cake and two-slice cake parcel let you choose the quantity. Their approximate listed weights are 55 g and 110 g respectively; they are small treats, not whole birthday cakes.

Why packaging matters as much as the cake

A supported slice has fewer tall decorative details to protect than a tiered cake. The product still needs packing that supports it during handling. The one-slice honey-cake product is described as vacuum-packed; follow its supplied storage instructions rather than assuming that packaging creates an unlimited shelf life.

Cake cards add presentation and a message. They do not automatically add more cake: the Happy Birthday Cake Card contains two slices, just as the standard two-slice parcel does. The cake-card explainer shows the format.

When biscuits are a useful alternative

Gorishky caramel biscuits have baked shells and caramel filling. Individual pieces can suit a gift intended for sharing. Check the current product quantity and seasonal availability before buying.

Their nut shape does not establish their allergen status. Use the exact ingredients and our allergen guidance when deciding whether any bake is suitable for the recipient.

When to arrange delivery for a whole cake

Tall finishes, tiered cakes and delicate decoration need an order-specific delivery plan. Send us the date, postcode, number of servings and design through custom cake enquiries. We will confirm whether collection or delivery is appropriate, including wider UK delivery by agreement where possible.

Once you have chosen a postal format, use the ordering and dispatch guide to plan its arrival.

Start with the by-post options

This is where Olga points people when they need standard-design honey cake, honey cake slices, or caramel biscuits vacuum-packed and sent as a parcel.

Questions people ask before ordering

The practical details that matter first

These are the bits customers usually want answered before they commit: freshness, delivery timing, and whether a postal cake is the right fit at all.

Can a decorated birthday cake be sent as a normal parcel?

Do not assume so. We check the design, size and destination and confirm whether collection or an arranged delivery is suitable. Choose a listed postal product for a standard parcel order.

Does a cake card contain more cake than a standard postal box?

Not necessarily. Our Happy Birthday Cake Card and the separate Cake by post product each contain two slices. The card, personalisation and presentation distinguish the gifts.

Are nut-shaped caramel biscuits automatically nut-free?

No. The shape does not establish ingredients or cross-contact risk. Check the exact product and discuss any allergy with us before ordering.

Choose the format that suits the journey

If the parcel has to go across the UK mainland, start with the cakes by post range for standard-design honey cake, honey cake slices, or caramel biscuits vacuum-packed for post. If the order depends on height, chilled fillings, or a detailed design brief, browse the custom cakes range for the celebration options that are better suited to local delivery, collection, or UK delivery by agreement.
